The Gift of a Lift: Portland

Feeling ready to expand your CI practice?

Are you hesitant to offer lifts because you're not sure if you can do it safely?

Do you feel cautious when offered a lift, unsure if you'll feel safe once in the air?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, this workshop is for you. 

Class content includes:

  • Mechanics and physics of easeful and dynamic lifts

  • Affirmative consent as our CI practice becomes more dynamic

  • Using the hands/arms as shelves instead of grabbers

Logistics:

Date and Time: Nov 19 | Sunday | 9:30-11:30am

Sliding Scale Fee: $30-$50

Location: Flock Dance Studio: 2516 NW 29th Ave

Pre-requisite: familiarity and some practice with fundamentals of CI, like weight sharing and following a moving point of contact

Cancellation Info:
Full refund minus $10 admin fee if cancelled up until Nov 5, after that 50 % refund for any cancellation up until Nov 16. No refunds starting Nov 17.

Meet your facilitator: 

JP Frank (they/them) is based in the land of the Salish Kootenai, now known as Missoula, MT, where they facilitate weekly Contact Improvisation classes. They have been a devotee of CI since 2014, and are influenced by their studies with teachers from all over the world. JP's inclusive teaching approach is clear, creative, and full of  juicy drops of inquiry all shaped by a decade of facilitating somatic meditation, trauma-informed movement trainings, and multiracial community dialogues on power, identity and social change.
