with JoJo Phoenix Frank
Do you crave safe physical connection while feeling protective or unsure of where to get it?
Do you long to feel more ease being yourself around other people?
Are you a highly sensitive person who is always showing up for others’ needs?
You have come to the right place.
Hi. I’m JoJo Phoenix.
I offer trauma-informed intimacy coaching and platonic touch therapy for individuals and couples
This is quite different from and complimentary to talk therapy. While a mental health therapist diagnoses and treats, I am an attuned practice partner and coach helping you to feel more confident navigating intimate connection while also offering you the benefits of a co-regulated nervous system through consensual shared touch.
If you are highly sensitive, have been violated by harmful touch, or feel deprived of nourishing touch, you may crave the comfort of physical closeness, but feel unsure of how to meet these needs. This is where intimacy coaching and platonic touch therapy can help.
We connect while keeping your comfort and safety front and center always. We start and move slow. We check in often. You never have to guess what’s going to happen next. We articulate and honor each other’s boundaries and your desires.
Not sure what your boundaries and desires are? That’s ok: I’m here to help you identify them. I know many helpful practices for this.
Asking for what we want isn’t always easy, especially if we aren’t sure that the other person has clear boundaries. In order to help you set down that fear and to help both of us feel safe, I am very clear with you about what I am and am not available for throughout and before our session. For instance, sexual touch is never included in sessions.
Physical touch is only incorporated if and when it feels right for you. We do not have to start with or even end up touching. We can simply co-exist or explore my other somatic-based modalities including nervous system regulation and consent skill building, somatic parts work, and movement for emotional processing.
“I came to JoJo Phoenix initially for help with healthy boundaries and self-advocacy. I received that and also learned how to listen to my body and create a deep sense of internal safety and acceptance.

What is a session like?
Each session starts with a check-in, verbalizing our agreements (I will teach you these) and then I guide you in choosing how our session goes. I only make suggestions if you ask for them, and in that case, I have plenty! The entire session is for you, it is all for you.
Cuddle therapy and intimacy coaching do not need to include touch! We work from a point of connection and relating at the pace that best supports your nervous system. Sometimes healing means focusing on nourishment. Think comfort and ease. Sometimes healing means growing. If you desire growth, I offer practices that help you connect with your body, boundaries, and desires. And, this is where big transformation can happen.
Sessions can include parallel activities like sitting side-by-side, listening to music or reading together and/or can include a wide range of touch from holding hands, hugs, gentle massage, head rubs, to cuddling, and dancing.
Per your needs and interests: we can explore my other modalities in sessions. I have a large toolbox of trauma-informed somatic practices, resources, and knowledge I am happy to share with you.
All of my sessions use a consent-first protocol. You can pause, change activities or positions, or end the session at any moment without ever needing to explain nor justify yourself.
Together, we help you translate the experiences you have in our sessions to feel more confident and skillful navigating intimacy and closeness with other people in your life.
Why work with me, specifically?
Experience and knowledge
Healing co-regulation
Nourishing touch
These are my gifts to the world.
Beginning with my time as Program Director of Yoga Behind Bars, I have been guiding people in trauma-informed embodiment practices for 12 years and have trained over 800 people in how to facilitate trauma-informed movement and embodiment spaces grounded in physiology and neuroscience.
I also founded two thriving embodiment communities in Missoula, Ground Swell and Contact Improvisation, that bring people together to play, express, and consensually connect. And, I travel internationally teaching consent-based connection workshops.
Through these practices, my training with Dr. Betty Martin, founder of the School of Consent, and my professional certification with Cuddlist, I have helped hundreds of individuals to become more skillful and comfortable with physical and emotional intimacy and self-expression.
“JoJo Phoenix has a beautiful way of creating space that dissolves walls in the most safe and loving way.
