2/26 Contemplative Dance Practice
Contact Improv with intermittent short meditations and an optional opportuinty to be witnessed and witness at the end.
This practice was developed by one of my most impactful teahers, Barbara Dilley. She merged her studies in Tibetan Buddhist consciousness practices and contact improvisation to create this container, which she welcomes being adapted and spread as time and space necessitate emergent and returning cultural practices.
3/4 Cacao Underscore
Underscore is a non-verbal container for movement exploration started by another favorite teacher, Nancy Stark Smith where everyone starts and ends together. I will be providing cacao in prayer and honoring of its roots from Indigenous culture. Sliding scale $22-32/person includes a cup of lovely cacao. Folks new to Underscore must watch this youtube video before attending. RSVP is required by emailing or texting JP.
3/11 Live Music Jam
Our own contact improvisation dancer Ceci Monroe is going to play her cello and sing for us while dance ! What a blessing! She is so fun, talented and attuned. You won’t want to miss this!
3/18 Eyes-Closed Jam
We practice with eyes closed or blindfolds to enhance sensitivity, slow down, feel more, and practice moving away/saying no with out caretaking. I will introduce guidelines. Must be present at beginning. There is always a space holder watching the group and you can take a break and witness at any time.
3/25 Contact Basics class /Open Jam
I will teach a class on contact improv basics for the first hour then we will move into an open jam. Great opportunity for new people to join in!
